GINGER COX
The Kimberley Guitar Man

I would like to introduce myself to my fellow Bush Ballad music lovers.

My name is Ginger and I live in Broome WA with my family and playing the Barry Thornton style of guitar is something I started doing over twelve years ago.

Barry was my idol then our friend and he stayed with us in Broome in 2000 and every year on the 28th of July I play “The Old Rugged Cross” in honor of him. In 2005 I could finally afford to buy a Gibson 335 the same guitar that Barry played, it makes beautiful music and I start and end every day picking on my Bush Ballads.

I finally got around to recording my first album “The Kimberley Guitar Man” at Terry and Jenny Bennetts studio in Gnangara WA and had it ready for Tamworth 2012 which was a big thrill for me and the CD was well received every where I played. The 16 songs I chose for the album are a collection of some of my favourite bush ballad tunes and I even do one song that I sing on. (A special song for my wife Marie).

I would like to thank the following people who played so well with me on my Album and they are, Lucky Oceans – Peddle steel and dobro, Peter Denahy – Fiddle, Ian Simpson – Banjo, Paul Novosel – Drums and Terry Bennetts – Acoustic guitars and Bass.
I would also like to thank the following people for giving me gigs in Tamworth and they are Lex K, Evan Platchinda, the Oasis Hotel and ABBA.
