Mildura Country Music Festival,

The Bush Balladeer Star Quest purpose
is to offer direction to young artists,

Winner - SHARON SMITH
From a field of four finalists, Sharon
Smith gave a strong bush ballad performance
to take out the Star Quest honour. Hailing
from Oakey in Queensland, Sharon has
been involved with bush ballad music
for many years with much experience
as a bass player for numerous artists
and touring. The Star Quest award was
presented to Sharon by Joy Mckean.

Rachel Richards & Joy Mckean.
The
2008 Bush Balladeer Star Quest saw the
field narrowed to just four finalists.
All genuine balladeers, this Star Quest
was one of the most competitive held so
far, and intense competition.
The Quest saw top performances from EVAN
PLATSCHINDA, SHARON SMITH and DEAN RICHARDSON,
but it was RACHEL RICHARDS who took out
the honour.
The Star Quest award was
presented by Joy Mckean.
Rachel will be appearing at various festivals
and concerts around the country, so keep

GREG BAIN
Bush Balladeer Star Quest Winner 2007!
Greg Bain
of North Rothbury New South Wales took
out the 2007 A.B.B.A. Bush Balladeer
Star Quest which was held at Tamworth
West Diggers Club on the 23rd of January,
from an excellent line up of bush ballad
talent.
Greg will be recording a single as part
of his win and appearing at many festivals
over the next twelve months. As
the Bush Balladeer Star Quest winner

JULIE
PERANDES
2006 Bush Balladeer Star Quest Winner!
Born
in Brisbane in 1987, Julie grew up listening
to recordings of Shorty Ranger, Stan
Coster. Slim Dusty and many others.
At the age of six Julie won her first
trophy. Since that first festival in
1994 Julie has won a variety of trophies
at festivals she has attended. She has
a strong interest in and loves performing
the bush ballad style music.
Julie was a top 5 finalist in the 2005
Star Quest and felt honored to be chosen
as the first recipient of the A.B.B.A.
Camerata scholarship in 2005. Currently
a member of the Golden Wattle Country
music Club Julie performs regularly
in her local area.

GIBSON - 2005 Bush Balladeer Star Quest
Winner!
Jeff
Gibson from Kyogle NSW took out the 2005
honours. Jeff is a polished performer
of bush ballads and has a easy listening
vocal and strong presentation. Jeff will
be recording his single with LBS music
to be released mid 2005. Jeff will also
be appearing at all major festivals
from Katherine, Gympie Muster, to Mildura
and the annual Pt Augusta RFDS Fundraiser

MATT MANNING TAKES OUT 2004
STAR QUEST!
Monday 19th January 2004, saw Matthew
Manning just 19 years of age take out
the Bush Balladeer Star Quest held at
the Tamworth Diggers Club. Chosen from
a top lineup of bush balladeer talent,
Manning's outstanding performance not
only won over the audience but the judges
as well.
Matt hails from Casino NSW and has been
singing since he was 6 years old. He began
playing guitar at the age of 8 and dedicated
a lot of time to instrumental work with
strong support from Barry Thornton.
Matt is eager to pursue a career in the
bush ballad industry. As well as being
a fine vocalist, Matt is also an accomplished
musician, playing rhythm, lead, bass guitar
and drums.
As part of his Australian Bush Balladeer
Association Inc Star Quest win, Matt will
record his winning single in mid 2004
